How it works
There is no single bigha. The pucca (Shahjahani) bigha of 27,225 sq ft, five-eighths of an acre, is the one in UP and Rajasthan records and Punjab conversion charts. West Bengal and Assam use a 14,400 sq ft bigha. Old Haryana records use a kachha bigha of 9,075 sq ft, and Uttarakhand a bigha of 82.5 × 82.5 ft, or 6,806.25 sq ft.
Some states have no single government figure at all: Himachal Pradesh converts village by village, and we found no government value for Madhya Pradesh or Gujarat. The converter shows that instead of a number.

Where the bigha figures come from
“Read in full” means we read the whole document. “Needs a check from India” means the figure and quote came from a search index of the government page at that link, because Indian government sites refused connections from our research machine; those 8 documents still need opening from an Indian connection to confirm the quote.
