A phone photo of a signature is a grey, shadowy page with a small scribble in it, often 2 to 5 MB. Forms want the opposite: a small JPG, usually 10 to 100 KB, with dark strokes on white. Signature mode does that in one step. It evens out the lighting, turns the paper pure white, makes the ink black, and crops to the edges of your signature before it hits the size.
If your form gives a size such as 140 × 60 px or 6 × 2 cm, choose Exact size and enter it; the signature is centred in that box with a small white margin. If it gives only a KB limit, leave the size on Any and the file is cropped tight to the ink.

How to do it
- Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen. A thicker pen survives compression better than a fine one.
- Take a photo from straight above in daylight, with no shadow of your phone on the page, and add it here.
- Drag the box around your signature if there is other writing on the page.
- Set your form’s KB limit (or pick the form), check the preview, and press Download JPG.
How it hits the size
The tool saves your image as a JPG again and again at different quality levels, halving the gap each time, until it finds the highest quality that fits under the maximum. That takes about ten tries and usually well under a second. If you set an exact pixel size it never changes it; with "Any size" it shrinks the pixels instead of letting the picture go blocky.
Forms disagree on whether 1 KB is 1,000 or 1,024 bytes, so we count the maximum as 1,000 bytes and the minimum as 1,024. A file that passes our check passes either way. If your image is too simple to reach a minimum even at top quality, we add blank data inside the file (a JPEG comment) to reach it; the picture does not change.

Questions people ask
How do I resize my signature to 20 KB?
Add a photo or scan of the signature, keep Signature mode on and leave "At most" at 20. The tool crops to the ink, whitens the paper and saves the clearest JPG under 20 KB. If your form says "10 to 20 KB", also set "At least" to 10.
How do I make the background of my signature white?
Signature mode does it for you: it measures the paper around the strokes, divides out shadows and uneven light, and sets everything that is not ink to pure white.
What pixel size should a signature be?
Use the size in your exam’s notice; the table above lists the ones we checked, with links. Where a notice gives only a KB limit, any clear size works; the tool keeps the strokes sharp by shrinking the pixels before it lowers the quality.
My signature file is too small for the minimum. What do I do?
Set "At least" to your form’s minimum. A clean black-and-white signature compresses very well, so it is often under 10 KB; the tool then adds blank data inside the file to reach the minimum, without changing the picture.
Can I keep my signature in blue ink?
Signature mode always makes the ink black, which stays the most legible after compression. If your form asks for blue ink, turn Signature mode off and resize the scan as it is.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. The clean-up and resizing run in your browser on your own device. Your signature is never sent anywhere or stored.
